So on the October sat I got a 2300 because of 730CR and 770M. On the June test I got 800 Math so my super score is 2330. I was wondering if I should retake to bring my Critical reading above 750 so my super score would be 2350. I know this may be a stupid question but please keep in mind that I want to go to top school like NYU Stern or Duke, and my GPA and extracurriculars are very very average/ cookiecutter. Would I benefit from retaking and getting that 2350? Can such a score equal out my unspectacular GPA? thanks
Your score is plenty high enough now. No score can compensate for a lowish GPA. Don’t retake. Work on your homework and your essays.
anything above a 2300 will have diminishing marginal returns for. Work on your essays and make sure you emphasize your interest in the program you are applying for
Please tell me you’re not really thinking of retaking a 2300.
Sorry guys, but I just signed up for the November test. I have nothing to lose with this already decent score. I’m not doing this for colleges but mainly to have fun being the highest score in my school. I currently still am but I don’t want anyone to pass my mark.
I’m not sure if $60 and a Saturday morning are worth it. Your decision, though…
Duke alum here. No added advantage of a 2300 vs 2350. Focus on other things within your control.
Why’d you ask if you already knew you weren’t going to listen to us?
Well, prepare to not be the highest anymore when you go to college where there will be people with 2400’s.
what a waste of money honestly after 2200 it doesn’t matter if you have good essay and activities
@dsi411 because someone wants to brag…
All I can say is best of luck. Getting a higher score can only work in your favour.
Although, depending on how low your G.P.A. is, that money may have been better spent elsewhere.
You’ve already taken it twice. ¡Basta!
Seriously, multiple sittings after already getting >2300 won’t be to your advantage. Schools would rather see a more well-rounded applicant with less paranoia about getting perfect scores. Don’t you have anything better to do with your time?
