I was wondering whether or not a 2310 (730 CR; 780 M; 800 W) is competitive enough for the Ivies, UPenn and Yale in particular. Should I try retaking the SAT again for a higher composite because this score was from just one sitting...

Rhetorical question.

Definitely a rhetorical question. Of course you should retake - nothing short of a 2400 is competitive at Ivies.

Really, you have no chance anywhere.

Yeah, you're basically destined for failure. Sad, but true.

this forum is so fun

Hmm, that math and verbal look kinda low

One thing that gets me sometimes....

you do have a 2310, which is amazing

but, say you had a 740 in writing, a respectable score. Writing isn't as important as the math and verbal scores to most colleges

So say you did have a 740, your composite would be a 2250.

And, I'm not saying this to any specific CCer, but had this been the case, more people would say to retake even though the math and verbal is a 1510.

god I would do anything for a 2310.

Ouch ! 2310 on the SAT I ??? Do ya know that it is the dream of a host of dudes ? ;)

Is 6'8" tall enough for the NBA?

Darn....a 2310. Why are you so stupid?

I would say that it probably is "good enough" for the Ivies but there is no harm in retaking it to try and boost it even more, if its not to stressful or a pain for you to take it again. The score is good but if you can improve, and it might improve your chances, why not? However, a 2310 is certainly not going to hurt you.

A 2310 is an excellent score, but whether you should retake depends on your ability. If you think you can score better on either math or critical reading, it doesn't hurt to retake. I scored a 2320, and I'm contemplating retaking because I know I can get an 800 math. So it's up to you.

To answer your question though, a 2310 is good enough for ivies.

No. Try community college.

My God... well, to be fair... if a 2310 is all you have to make you competitive then: NO, IT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR IVIES!!!! Then not even a 2400 would save you, :p

You need grades & good EC's & all that other stuff!!!! :). If you have that... then a 2310, I guess, is fine enough. Just look at the RD boards... and SAT averages for these schools...

This has got to be some sort of joke.

Come on, 2310 is a great score. Why even ask? I won't even comment on grades and extracurriculars because I don't know anything about you. But seriously, that is a great SAT score. CoolaTroopa - "fine enough." Relax a little, be satisfied with that score.

People like you get me really mad. I mean a 2310? You manage to kill the SAT but you don't have any sense to realize thats good? or maybe your just trying to brag

score sucks.

First, I have to say this: Are you kidding??? A 2310 is a fantastic score, and if u don't understand that, I wonder how you got that score in the first place. I would probably give my right arm for a 2310.

However, on the off chance that you are being serious, I should tell you this. I've actually heard of kids getting rejected at ivy schools because they got high scores like yours and tried to retake to get perfect scores.
