i am taking the SATs next year in October, so i have plenty of time to prepare. what do you guys think i should do to get a 2370+?

what books should i use?

thanks!!!

get CB's Blue Book, do everything in there, and read some difficult books to improve comprehension, vocabulary, etc.

should i get a tutor?

if you're scoring that high already, chances are you dont need one and you can do everything yourself

ditto. But make sure you practice, just in case.

ok thanks. any other pieces of advice? especially for the essay

Cite literary or historical examples. Current events or <cringe> personal stories don't generally rack up points. Hint: The Great Gatsby works for so many essays.</cringe>

I used Brave New World (literature) and the Civil War (history) in my May essay.
Hope they worked.

Either way, just practice.
Definitely get the CB Blue book.

If you were a beginner, I would've recommended Princeton Review's 11 Practice SATs because that's how I got started, and the explanations in the back of the book are the reason I've gotten so good.

There's only so much studying you can do though.
A lot of it will be just natural skill, and a lot of it will be luck

Meh, I went from 213 to 2350 which I think is close enough for this thread. All I did was take a few practice tests. I'd gone out partying hard the night before the PSAT though.

Anything above 2370~ is purely luck. Bad day, you'll probably screw one up. Good day? Everything right. I can tell you personally im a pretty math oriented guy (AIME, AMC's, and the whole enchilada...) and i still managed to bubble in a wrong answer on math =P

That's true, above 2300 2-4 questions can really screw you up.
