Out of sheer curiosity, how many of you workout at the 24 hour fitness on ventura and sepulveda? I swear, in the last month I have seen a 500% increase in the amount of UCLA branded apparel there when I workout.

hah, i was planning to on getting a membership there on wednesday…

I need to renew my 24 membership soon…

Are the gyms on campus nice? Or should I stick w/ 24?

One of the things I am most looking forward to, at whatever UC I get into, is the gym on campus. Great facilities with college chicks all over the place.

@pskate… gym at UCLA is way nice.

Get the costco deal, it’s like $299 for 2 years. Was way cheaper than the $30-40 a month my friends are paying.

No clue how the gym at UCLA is. I live about 1/4 mile from the 24 hour at the galleria so it’s hard to ask for more convenience.

@cooldude: The chicks at the 24 hour on Ventura and Sepulveda are smoking. Well, it depends what part of the day you go at. I seem to encounter a lot of pretty ones when I workout late night, post 11pm. I think it’s because the only girls working out then are usually gym rats so they have really nice bodies. Plus most of the guys who workout then are usually really chill, and not the steroid monsters who grunt their way through a 2 hour 5pm workout.

Hijink… I don’t get it. Why go to the 24 when you can go to UCLA for free? Just curious.

it is not really free- you pay for it with your tuition.

I bought a 2 year pass about 9 months ago, so I plan to make use of it. Plus, it is super convenient as I said. Very clean and well equipped as well.

At the Sherman Oaks Galleria? Nice. I have to start going there more often. Any other people from the valley here?

Yah well if you want a workout partner, you can join our little group. There are 5 of us, and we usually work in pairs depending when people have work/class since not having a spotter is a pain (at least for chest days).

i was told by a friend that if i went in, i could probably get them to waive the initiation fee, and $32 a month for the three months til school starts isn’t so bad.
isn’t there also a 24 hour in westwood?

i know there is an la fitness on the corner of wilshire and gayley i’m not sure about 24 hour.

I just canceled my 24 hour membership today. Why waste the money when we all have free access to a gym at our respective UC’s. I have classes in 3 different buildings and right in the middle of all 3 is the gym. Doesn’t get much more convenient than that. As long as it’s not falling apart that’s where I’m going.

Out of curiosity, do you live on campus, Dem?

@pinker: You should be able to easily wing a $99/3month deal (or even better) since apparently the economy is in a slow down. I use to see people signing up all the time at 24 hour, now it seems like I see one every few days or so.

what you should do is freeze your 24 account. so when your on winter/summer break, you can unfreeze it and workout until you go back to school

Hijynx, I’m going to be living off campus.

24 fitness is damn picky about freezing accounts. (in California anyway)
-no freezes on prepaid accounts
-freezes require either financial or medical emergency in forms of legal paperwork

Yeah I researched so I could do the same thing… :/

wow tats weird. because my friend goes to uc merced and he freezes/unfreezes whenever he comes back down. maybe it dependson the gym

Probably because there is nothing in Merced. And since they can’t provide service, they are violating their contract.
