2400 on SAT

For anyone who has gotten a 2400 on their SATs or close:
(1) How long did you prepare in advance?
(2) What prep books did you use?
(3) What was your original score when you first started practicing and how did you get it to improve?
(4) What are the best tips/advice you can give for improving SAT scores?
(5) (if you have already applied and received admissions to schools) did you get into all the colleges you applied to or at least your first choices?

Right now my SAT score on Collegeboard practice tests is an average of 2100. I'm looking to get that as close to 2400 as possible. I have no money for prep classes but have been prepping on my own very well. I have ordered the Barrons 2400 SAT book on Amazon and will go through it before my SAT test on October 6th. I will also do a couple of more full length practice tests. Is this a good plan?
Thank you

I didn’t score anywhere near 2400 (I got 2070) but I know several people who have scored at or near 2400. Some prepared for quite a bit, others were just intelligent and didn’t need to prepare.

A higher SAT score is better, but when you start getting in the 2200-2400 range, test scores become less of a critical factor. And keep in mind that a 2400 doesn’t guarantee acceptance to prestigious schools. Definitely prepare, but don’t kill yourself over it.

Thank you but I was looking more for advice on how to prep and especially what prep books I should use. Do you have any insight on this?

I used Princeton Review’s “Cracking the SAT” for R and W sections and that helped quite a bit (especially for writing).

Some people on CC say Barron’s is slightly harder, which is good if you’re trying to push 2300-2400.

i used PR sat manual, 2006 version. i get about 4 wrong. how do i get an 800

Get zero wrong.

^Lol. Nice…
