hey, I have a quick question about SAT/ACT..I got a 2250 freshman year on the SAT, and am prob going to submit that score..and now I'm taking the ACT in december (im a junior). So, does anyone think that if I get a 35/36 on this ACT, if I have to take the SAT again? Or should I take the SAT again and try to get 2300+?

wow! 2250 as a freshman. thats incredible. i don't see why you even need to take the act. since you have score choice for the sat now, why not just take the sat again and go for a 2400?

i'd say the 2300 is more impressive. i know several people who got 35s on their act. i know 1 person of those who got a 2300. plus i think the sat's just harder anyway.

The SAT really separates the most impressive students more than the ACT does.
so I agree with mabsjenbu123... 2300+ is very very impressive, much more so than a 35 or even a 36 on the ACT

Maybe it's just in my school but I know ALOT of people with 34-36. However, everyone I know that has taken the SAT struggle with it a LOT and ends up taking the ACT instead. In our school 2200+ is very very impressive. a 2100+ is even considered pretty amazing. Also a lot of kids that take the ACT in my school have gotten 34s without prep but rarely anyone gets a 2200+ without prep..

^ That's just like my school, but my actual question is, if I get a 36 on the ACT, and only submit that score, would colleges translate that into a 2400?

Well it's the highest score you can get!
It might be more like 2300+ or 2350+ if you just translate it but I dont know. I don't really think it'll make much of a difference though
Your scores are very impressive! Especially the 2250 freshman year! Wow I did prep over the summer and got a 2230 my junior year...haha

they're supposed to treat a 2400 and a 36 the same way in theory. in practice, do they consider the 36 as impressive? probably not. you can gather just by reading CC that 2400 is almost unanimously considered more impressive

If you attain a 35 or 36 on the ACT, you would be wasting your money to take the SAT again. For goodness sakes, the AdComs will be WOWED with your 2250 as a freshman, and (perhaps) annoyed if you try to score "better" than a top-notch ACT score.

Please take a look at the concordance tables on the college board site and you will understand why you should focus your energy on things other than admission tests if you hit gold with a 35 or 36 ACT.
