$250 deposit?

<p>My friend got his acceptance letter by email a couple of days back. He got his financial aid offer too and they met 100% of his need. But there was one thing on the letter that bugged him and got me to post this thread. </p>

<p>The letter asked him to deposit $250 by February 22 or otherwise they would have to rescind his fin aid offer. My friend has applied to a number of other places as well. What he wants to know is that if he pays the deposit now will it mean that he will absolutely have to attend Wabash or could he choose to go somewhere else when the rest of his decisions come out.</p>

<p>First of all, let me make clear I'm no expert. My understanding is the $250 will guarantee his spot in next year's entering class. If he chooses to go to another school, however, he will likely forfeit the $250.</p>
