250 word limit?

<p>I just saw that the common app essay limit is 250 words. I already had a first draft written for mine with close to 700 words, and I was going to trim that down to about 500-600. Seriously though, how are we suppose to write a powerful and compelling essay about ourselves in such a succint manner? </p>

<p>Also, how many words is it okay to exceed by?</p>
