hockaday has like a grand total of 2 boarders (exaggeration but you catch my drift). it’s practically a day school…

There’s one way: Choate is in 10 School, Groton is not It’s like, you can easily name colleges that are better than some of the IVYs, but IVY is IVY, no matter what. So all these rankings are relative. I know which schools should be in top25, but it’s hard to compare among schools in top25.

I thought this list was based on objective criteria. mea culpa

Cate ahead of Thacher? How do you figure that? While I am way more familiar with the East Coast schools, we looked at both Cate and Thacher and the latter is way stronger statistically (although it’s very outdoorsy - not our cup of tea.)

Thank you neato… Groton keeps getting shortchanged round here grumble *grumble Any one calling Groton 2nd tier is insane, I could’ve gone to a HADES if I wanted to but I liked the ACADEMICS (among other things of course) better at Groton. I know people going to Georgetown, trust me admissions is not in the same category there as it is at Groton. Also. if we’re going to get into prestige calling ‘the ten schools’ the ivys then Groton beats The Hill and many of the others in prestige anyday.

Another ranking discussion? Are you kidding? It’s like being dosed with Ipecac or forced to listen to Billy Mays infomercials over and over again.

In terms of endowment per student: Exeter, SPS, Groton, Hotchkiss, Andover
In terms of admit rate: Andover, Deerfield, Groton, SPS, Exeter
In terms of college matriculation (% of students students matriculated in top schools - top 25 universities or top 15 LACs as in US News ranking for the past two to five years depending on data availability): Andover, SPS, Groton, Exeter, Lawrenceville

You can add maybe SSAT/SAT ranking too, but you will see Groton solidly being one of the best of best.

Sorry Parlabane, didn’t ‘mean’ to get involved but wanted to hep make a point that Groton shouldn’t be excluded from the “best” list.

Thank You Benley :)

Good one, P’bane. Somethings never die, including Billy Mays infomercials

Yeah, I also didn’t mean to get involved; but seeing a school so obviously first rate by any metric listed as anything other than top five is laughable. I don’t have any afflilitation with the school other than the fact that they WLed my son…TWICE! But I still think it’s one of THE great American boarding schools.

Nice job, Benley! Kudos.

And toombs - that Billy Mays joke was right on time. Thanks for the laugh.

Thanks, Exie, but credit for all Billy Mays references must go to Parlabane. (Yes, I laughed too.)

What about the hill school???

It depends on what criteria. Like SAT score? Linden Hall school has 2080. Still, it’s far from the top, even if it’s SAT score isn’t. What criteria is this by?
