25th Percentile SAT for Ivys...Am I screwed?

My scores are 690M, 690CR, and 710WR and 2090 Composite which is about the 25th percentile for top 20 schools. Do I have a chance at UPenn, Brown, Columbia, WUSTL and Dartmouth? Has anybody gotten in to these schools without hooks? Also I'm full pay to all but I don't know if that helps or not...

Ivys don’t look at whether or not you applied for FA, so that won’t have an effect. Looking at your stats objectively, they are on the low side for Ivys. Do you have any great ECs to help? Awards?

Some of my ECs are pretty unique, but I don’t really have any awards. Doesn’t WUSTL look at whether you applied for FA?

So . . you got safety schools?

The schools you mention are reaches for almost everyone.

For example, Brown says no to 90% of applicants who are in the top 10% of their class, 89.5% of those with SAT CR scores of 700-740, and 90.1% of those with SAT Math scores of 700-740.

Bottom line: GO FOR IT . . with open eyes.

And love thy safeties.

To be honest chances are very poor. Maybe WashU ED if you’re very top of class.

Of course I have safeties… Thank you Waverly for your awe-inspiring insight, but I will retain my optimistic outlook.

Not trying to inspire awe, but I probably sent over 6600 (you just got me to do the math!) applications to ivies during my 22 year career as a college counselor, so hopefully I have a little insight.

But the facts tell a better story than I do. Here’s Brown, where I once worked, the others look almost identical:

<a href=“Undergraduate Admission | Brown University”>Undergraduate Admission | Brown University;

OP - eyes wide open.

Many kids just Do not understand that 50% of the class at these schools have hooks-they are recruited athletes, URMs, legacies, staff kids, wealthy/connected kids, etc. Half of the class is filled before they consider the unhooked.

Then there are the kids with tips-low income, first generation, underrepresented states and nations, rural, local, etc.

There are not many seats left when they get to the unhooked, affluent and middle class applicants. Precious few. The vast, vast majority of those accepted will have stats at or above the 75th percentile. These kids are stars.

@Waverly - Do you happen to know of any other links to statistics (for other Ivys) like the one you posted about Brown ? I’m curious as to how my stats compare, but I haven’t found any other statistics as specific as the ones on Brown’s website.

Yeah the 25th percentile SAT scores for ivies are for hooked kids…sorry but you may be in over your head on these ones unless you have an exceptional talent. There are plenty of good schools you can still consider though. Try not to have the optimistic outlook, have a realistic one.

You can look at the common data sets to get stats for each school. Just Google “college X common data set 2011.”
