Hi Everyone. My stepdaughter has a 27 on the ACT, which is pretty good but her GPA is only 2.4 and the grades have been declining with a 2.1 the last semester Junior year. She has no extracurriculars, and unfortunately, only 1 AP course, which she passed, but not by much. She is in the bottom 1/4 of her class. Any chance at a 4 year college or should we simply prepare for Junior college? I dont have a lot of hope but she seems confident that that test score will outweight all of the negatives.

27 is a decent test score, but even that isn’t spectacular and probably won’t be enough to outweigh the negatives. I say community college, maintain good grades there, and then transfer after 2 years.

Computer science is the intended major. We’re in Northern Illinois so it would have to be a midwestern school. There are some good Junior Colleges around.
