Your GPA will not likely increase much/at all. Your apps will be in before semester grades are out.
Big 10? Probably Nebraska, UIowa, UIndiana and Mich State Univ
But, really, how much will your family pay each year? If they won’t pay the OOS costs, then how will you pay?
What is your home state?
I live in Illinois. I know my GPA will increase to a 3.8 possibly. I’m taking 3 AP classes and if I do well that will get me a 4.33 for the quarter. That will increase it. My family will pay whatever, there is no hold backs on tuition. @mom2collegekids @rosered55
@Jsan81 Illinois has a very good business school, but I think getting in with a 28 is a small stretch. If you could raise your ACT it a little bit, your chances would be better.
After that, I would consider Indiana and Michigan State.
Are you in the top 20% of your class? If so, you’d be a direct admit candidate for Fisher College of Business if you are accepted to The Ohio State University. https://fisher.osu.edu/undergraduate/admissions/future-students
Select “Domestic Freshmen” and you’ll see the direct admit requirements for Fisher and a description of the pre-major option if you are not a direct admit.
I’ve had 44 family members go to Illinois so that definitely helps a little bit hahaha. @Much2learn
we do not do class rankings at my school @BuckeyeMWDSG
Ask your GC if he/she can write a letter on your behalf re rank. Agree with @BuckeyeMWDSG that Ohio State Fisher would be an excellent option.
Are you sure parents are willing to pay ‘whatever’? @Jsan81 ? Agree about raising the ACT score - taking test Oct and Dec…and preparing. Very much not making test taking mistakes and also learning how to not miss on some of the types of questions - analyzing your strengths and weaknesses. Sometimes can pull up your score on your strengths.
Sounds like you want a flagship school experience. You may get more bang for your buck going to a private university rather than paying OOS tuition. However certainly keep you state flagship in the application group.
those stats should get you into Indiana if you apply early. Without essay/EC’s etc, though hard to say for sure.
Yes my parents have made it quite clear that I should not worry about price. @SOSConcern what private schools do you recommend?
OP - are you looking to staying in your geographic region or going away? Are you looking general business or more specific? Are you currently a HS senior (I get the drift that you are a senior).
If you are a senior, you have a lot to do in a compressed time. Certainly you don’t have to decide on the school until later in the school year, but you will want to have some choices - and by sorting out what you are looking for and cost/benefit (to me that is an important element).
Do you have older siblings or looked at the paths that others have done with college? Have you been on many college campuses, looked at programs of study, etc?
What do your parents think? Look at the schools/choices graduates from your HS have gone to - in your area and out of your area. Talk to people that know you and can give you some insight based on you.
Michigan State. Ohio State is a reach, but it’s worth a try. You could also try Texas A&M.
The problem with Indiana is getting into its business school. Kelley requires a 3.8 (weighted is okay) and a 30 ACT or 1390 SAT.
