Is a 29 ACT score too low for Yale?

hope not, thats what i got. really though its not all scores, i'm a firm believer in the essay, so make it great!

Isn't that about a 1300 on the SAT?

If your SAT is anything above that send it and not the ACT (if you haven't already).

It's in their range.

Yes, if you're a typical candidate in all other aspects. But if you have something interesting about you, then no.

It depends on your ethnicity, average for your high school, etc. But, yes, a 29 on the ACT is low.

the 29 isn't going to break you, as long as you are in range than the other aspects of your app become much more important

is 28 horrible? everything else on my record is great...but it's just that stupid test score.

The 2005-06 Yale Common Data Set indicates that the 25th - 75th percentile ACT composite score for current freshman is 31 - 34. A score of 29 or 28 is obviously not in this range.

Clearly that is the MIDDLE 50 percent, thus 25% scored lower, thus 28 or 29 still as acceptance potential.

Retake if you can. I went from a 28 to a 30 to a 32 (33 superscored, stupid science, got a 28 the last time instead of the 32 I got before)

CAC119, yes that is true, but some of those ppl are URM, legacies, athletes, etc that are below the range. I'm not saying that it's impossible to get in with a 29, but not very likely. Retake it and aim for a 31+. If you don't get it, then just make sure your essays are incredibly well done.

although i know that the steriotype is for all those legasies and athletes to have lower scores, but i dont think it is quite fair to say that the whole or even the majority of the bottom 25% are made up of that group.
