RenaissanceMom…I also have two sons…1st is an exact match to your S1. S2 is having a much tougher time academically and rather than driven by his own particular interests, is having trouble finding his niche and is actually somewhat demoralized by his brother’s success and his own difficulties. Started reading this thread in anticipation of what is to come for him as well. Hoping he stays in the 3-3.3 range, but too soon to tell.

It did take quite a while for D2 to figure out “who she was” as a student, and she’s done nicely, but it was her journey to take. There wasn’t much we could do, except I do think that validating who she is as a person and staying out of the “numbers game” helped her enormously.

She too is a very creative kid whose creative side often interfered with the practical job of getting the best grades. But we’re confident that in her next step she has the skills and dedication she needs. This discussion has been hugely helpful to us along the way.

Congratulations on all of the acceptances. We are awaiting word from the College of Charleston this week. The letter arrived from South Carolina yesterday, and she was deferred until a March decsion. We also received an acceptance letter from Auburn with a good scolarship opportunity. My poor daughter is so confused on what to do right now. She actually said “yay, a defrral, I don’t have to worry about that school.” I then told her that according to USC they defer close to 60% of their applicants to March. Anyway, we will see what happens when the Charleston letter comes in the mail. Hopefully, she will remain loyal and committed to ECU, although we know she will get no awards from this school.
Isn’t it amazing how well all of these kids have done and how all of us stressed about acceptances. All of your children have done so well and it’s so glad to see the colleges recognizing their poential.

Congrats rscqueen on the South Carolina acceptance!

My son has three or four schools to hear from next week. One of them said, “before the end of the year”, but I’m hoping that means before Christmas!

rscqueen - Congrats for Auburn with a scholarship! And as far as USC, I know someone who was deferred with good results later. Finger crossed for lots of good choices!

Kathiep I hope good news comes for your son before Christmas.

Kathiep, I bet it is before Christmas–they want to be on vacation between Christmas and New Year. Best of luck!

RSC, congrats!

yabeyabe2 - Haven’t seen you around much! Heard good news from Guilford yesterday and deferral from WPI. If we get a yes with every maybe not, I’ll be fine.

Rcqueen, congrats on the Auburn acceptance!

kathiep, congratulations on Guilford!!!

rscqueen, congratulations on Auburn!!!

Parent of a 2012er. My two Ds sound a lot like EmmyBets. I’ve been lurking on this thread; It’s great to hear about all of the acceptances. Here’s hoping that that is where D2 will be next year, figuring out where to go of the places to which she has been accepted.

Well it is official and we are done. My daughter was denied admission to the College of Charleston. She is fine with the decision and will officially and finally be an ECU Pirate next fall. She really was torn as to what she would do if she was accepted at COFC but luckily she is fine with her choice and is excited about ECU. I wish all of you much future success and good greetings and acceptances over the holidays.

^^^^Welcome to the Pirate Nation rscqueen…aarrgghh.

Hooray for being happy and hooray for being done!

rscqueen-Glad she is excited about ECU and now can focus on enjoying the rest of her senior year and preparing for a great college start!

My daughter has also applied to ECU…but due to a screw up with the College Boards, her scores were never sent. We still hope for a good outcome as she really, really likes that school. And it’s only a few hours away…which I like.

So S has applied and been accepted to 7 schools here in the western states, all good options for him. I thought we were done. Apparently he got an email from Minnesota last month inviting him to apply. He applied to the business school there, and was accepted. Looks like we will be visiting Minnesota in the near future.

congrats to everyone! ds got an acceptance from Mercyhurst yesterday…he was so excited after he opened the letter he had to walk away for a minute before he showed it to me! Heard from friend Miami Univ is releasing early decision (not the binding early action) letters already…so maybe them and Ohio State over break?

Merry Christmas to all, and to all Good Admission News!

Congrats to everybody, love the good news!

Congrats on ECU and Mercyhurst and Guilford and any I mssed! Re the screwup, I am amazed I have not read any accounts of parents going publicly beserk over such events, given the pressures involved.
