3.1 transfer GPA chances

Hi all! I'm looking to transfer as a junior from a state school with a 3.1 G.P.A. I want to transfer into the Fall 2013 academic year, at which I hope to raise my G.P.A. to around 3.25. My classes will have included two calculus courses, two foreign language courses, chemistry, stats, intro finance, accounting, and econ courses. In my extra-curriculars, i have been president and vp of several student organizations and have written published articles for the university newspaper.

I want to know anyone's opinion and/or experience on what tier 1 schools I may have a shot at transferring to, public or private, anywhere in the country.

Many thanks!!

The part about your GPA is unclear. You currently have a 3.1 after freshman year? And hope to have a 3.25 by the time you transfer as a junior (after your sophomore year)?

Are you trying to transfer as a business major? Many of the kinds of schools you’re considering don’t have undergrad business programs, so I don’t know how well your credits will transfer.

Yes; it can be higher, but I am making a conservative estimate.

Thanks for your response.

I don’t have to be a Business major; as long as it is in the realm of Economics, I will be fine.

Thanks for your response.

What kind of schools do you have in mind? Need to know your targets.

The main private school I am looking at is Fordham. I don’t know if I would get into Fordham, Northeastern, Syracuse, or Boston University. I feel like I would get into Hofstra, but if I would like to aim higher.

The two main public schools I am looking at are University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Rutgers University New Brunswick. Yet again, I’m not sure how confident I am of getting in there.

Let me know your opinions and responses. I’ve been going at this transfer process for months now and it seems the more I go over all of the schools, the more unsure I am about which school I have a legitimate opportunity of being accepted into.

Thanks for all of your responses!

Hofstra is safety. If you maintain GPA at or above 3.25 I believe you have shot to all schools mentioned.
