3-2 Engineering Program

Hello,

Has anyone in the 3-2 Engineering program been admitted through non guaranteed admission? If so, can you please tell me what classes you messed up in or what stood out that helped you get in. Also, since Case Western does have this program too, would you say it is a good backup option for Computer Science pursuers if getting into Columbia will be a no-go. Please I would greatly appreciate some info, it’s very hard to find 3-2 info out there.

You do realize you’ll be paying for 5 years of college, instead of 4.

For most families, just paying for 4 years is a tremendous finacial burden. Why knowingly add another year, if there are plenty of schools where you can do it in 4?

Columbia does not make poor kids pay a lot (<60,000) family income

What’s non guaranteed admission?

Meaning you don’t qualify for guaranteed admission but through can be still apply for admission almost as if a trasnfer student.

It becomes a great deal more difficult to gain acceptance if you don’t qualify for the guaranteed admission. Under guaranteed admission you need about a 3.3 GPA overall as well as in the STEM classes. However, if you miss that you may be subject to their regular transfer admission requirements, which for Columbia, Dartmouth or WashU may be 3.7+ GPA.
