3.2 GPA, No-Name Undergrad, Fulbright Scholar. My Chances?

Hi everyone,

I’ve been lurking for a while. I’d appreciate it if you guys can chance me for Top 10 schools. Having deferred my admission to one of the grad schools at an Ivy, I’m returning to the idea of law school and will be taking the LSAT in December.

Please chance me.

1)Naturalized female immigrant who had to flee a war from a developing country

2)3.2 GPA from a no-name undergrad. Had a BAD sophomore year due to personal problems that related to unresolved post-traumatic stress from said war.

3)Major: Communication & International Studies. Inducted into the honor society for my major; awarded an Academic Achievement Award from my state.

4)Fulbright Scholar – the first student to win the fellowship at my no-name university

5) Internships in Switzerland with a governmental org and a Big Four Accounting firm

Without a LSAT score, nobody can tell you anything meaningful. Take at least a practice test to get a rough idea.

You’ve got an interesting background, which will probably help more than the Fullbright. However, numbers are still important. A 3.2 will hurt, but a high LSAT will help offset it.

It also matters whether you are a urm.

developing country…if she is African (therefore black) this will definitely help. However, if she is Asian… this will hurt.

How can being asian hurt?

ethnic affirmative action, my friend

well to clarify, due to the AA, the colleges in general just expect a higher score/gpa from an asian than from an african/african-american.
