When I apply to Columbia, I am interested in one of the dual programs to get both a BA and a BS in 5 years. I am debating how best to approach this. Should I apply to Columbia College for the 3/2 or apply to the Fu College of Engineering for the 4/1? I am definitely a math/science kind of applicant, but it's more impressive to get into Columbia College. Or maybe it doesn't matter since the BA is from Columbia College and the BS is from Engineering... does anyone know?

BTW, I do know that you can’t apply for the program upfront-- it’s something that you do after your sophomore year.

You should apply to Columbia College for the 3/2. Keep your options open, I was gung-ho about engineering in my senior year of high school and my attitude, as well most students around me, changed drastically by the end of sophomore year, i.e. a majority of us wanted to major in something that wasn’t so difficult and curved so poorly.

Enroll in Columbia College and learn more about the engineering program before you jump in with both feet. High school math/science does not equal engineering, plus, CC also offers a BA in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, which together encompasses 15-20% of SEAS already.
