3+2 program for engineering

Can someone help me by explaning abt this program offered by few Lacs like Oberlin, Beloit, etc. details abt like; is it good option if we don get at 4 yr engineerin collo, fin aid for intels durin 3 yrs at lac and 2 yrs at eng. college, and etc..........
thanx

One of my friends going to Grinnell is planning on that program. Apparently, you do 3yrs of LAC edu (he's majoring in Phys at Ginnell) and then u transfer to do Eng somewhere else. He's on a huge aid package at Grinnell, so aid shdn't be a bother (LACs are VERY liberal).

This what he told me for the criterion for tranferring to Columbia from Grinnell: U need a 3.1 GPA and need to fulfill a course requirement and ur tranferred.

what abt aid after transferring to engineering schools (e.g. columbia).

And is the fin aid transferred too?

I'm not sure abt that...check out the links available at the college sites, they shd be more informative.

i think you will have to apply to the college that you are going to for the remaining two years.

ya i did think abt dat.

no aid is not transferred, I can speak for COlgate , though I think it is the same for all LACS, and you shd nt expect to get a lot of aid as a transfer international student. What the 3+2 program ensures is that you get admitted provided you maintain a certain GPA.

I think it is better to complete your Physics major from the LAC and then do MAsters in enngg. ( u can if u have Phy major)

ya colgate has got details abt dat. 4 yr Phy in LAC and then M. in eng. would be good idea. thanx guys fo the info

if you are female, you can do that at wellesley and MIT or Olin college of engineering. i'm not sure how hard it is to get in that program though. you end up getting a BA and some sort of engineering degree (i'm nto sure whether BS or BSE)

i'm male and i found this program included in many lacs including Williams, Carleton, Bowdoin, Haverford, Middlebury,..etc.
