3.28 GPA, 1990 SAT

Hi I'm a high school senior wondering what my chances are of getting into a good college with these scores. My GPA was fairly low freshman year, but got better in sophomore and junior years. Also, my extracurriculars are unfortunately not very impressive- I have done volunteer work, martial arts for 4+ years, and went to Academy of Arts for 3 summers.
Chances for following schools?
-UC Davis
-UC Santa Cruz
-Cal Poly San Luis Obispo
- UC Santa Barbara
-UC Irvine
-Cal Poly Pomona
-University of Colorado Boulder
-Oregon State University

BTW I live in California. I want to major in environmental science.

Have you calculated your UC GPA? <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

UC’s are very GPA focused, so although you have a good SAT, your GPA is very low for all the schools on your list.
The average UC GPA for all the UC’s except for UCSC was a 4.0+. Average GPA for UCSC was 3.82.
You might have a chance at UCR/UCM.

Cal Poly SLO/UCD/UCSB/UCI: Reach
UCSC: Low Reach
Cal Poly Pomona: High Match (only offer Environmental Biology)
Oregon State/University of Colorado: High Match/Match

You should also look into the some of the Cal States that offer Environmental Science such as Chico State, Monterey Bay. San Jose, Long Beach and San Diego.

I haven’t calculated my UC GPA yet, but I think it would be around 3.6-3.7, considering how much worse freshman year was(plus honors classes). How important is the UC GPA for admissions?

The Stats listed on the University of California Website and on the each UC’s website, uses the UC GPA. Most schools will recalculate your GPA, but the UC GPA is what admissions will look since it uses only the 10-11th a-g course grades along with extra honors points. Based on your unweighted and even with the additional 8 extra Honors points, your UC GPA should be around 0.2-0.4 higher than the unweighted (3.48-3.68) is what I am guessing. My older son is a current UCD student studying Environmental Science and Resource Management. I got into UCR/UCSC/UCI and UCI with a 4.22 UC GPA. Denied UCSB/UCSD last year just to give you some perspective.

FYI: Cal Poly SLO will use 9-11th grades in their GPA calculation, just no extra honors points for 9th grade courses.

Also Typo:: Should say He got into UCR/UCSC/UCI and UCD… too many mistakes tonight.
