3.3 GPA in Full IB

Hi, thanks for reading, I’m an IB Diploma candidate and a Junior in high school in Washington State. Just took the SAT on June 6th, so no results yet.The problem is, my prospective major is in Computer Science, a demanding field with a high GPA requirement and I’m looking at colleges such as UW Seattle and UIUC, even when I have a terrible GPA. I’m really not sure what to do because I’m not interested in schools such as WSU and Oregon State. The thing about my 3.3 GPA (not counting this semester) is that my school district starts high school at 10th grade. So in junior high, 9th grade, I got a 3.7 both semesters. However, once I got to high school, I took too many demanding classes and ended with a 3.0 and a 2.8, 2 D’s and a couple C’s on my transcript. I still ended up taking difficult classes this year (IB PreCalc, HL IB core classes), got a 3.3 last semester and will be ending this semester with at least a 3.7. I would have a 3.8, but my B+ in IB PreCalc (I know, why do I want to go into CS with subpar math skills) is dragging my GPA down to a 3.7. I am honestly not sure what to do. I would hate to settle for a school below UW, but my academic history and effort don’t really reflect someone worthy of UW let alone CS. If it helps, I’m Asian, yearly income $100k+, and I was diagnosed with ADD during the semester I received a 2.8. I started doctor prescribed ADD meds during that time, and somehow still ended up with a 2.8… I guess I’m that cliché lazy kid who was always told he was gifted, slacked off and never did his homework, and eventually fked himself and potentially the rest of his life. Someone give me advice/chance me? Please be as critical and honest as possible. I’ve done a lot of thinking over the past 2 years and I honestly can only blame myself for this situation.

P.S. EC: Soccer (rec) since 3rd grade, Chess Club member this year and Chess Club VP Senior year. Kind of lacking too, but it’s really hard to be social when everyone thinks you’re stupid because of how poorly you performed sophomore year.

I’m not really sure what you’re looking for because it seems like you’ve already identified the problem. You claim you’re a “cliché lazy kid who was always told he was gifted, slacked off and never did his homework.” Surely you know what to do from there. The only other thing I can see is lighten your course load.

What’s your EFC and your parents’ budget?
Can you imagine going to a State where you’d be URM?
