I’m a first year community college student. My first semester went great and after factoring the credits I had obtained from high school I had a 3.86 cumulative GPA (25 credits). Second semester was rough for me and I think I’m going to end up with two C’s an A and a B which will drop my GPA to the 3.4-3.5 range. I’m applying for spring admission to a 4 year this fall and by the time I apply there probably wont be much change in my gpa.
Is it still possible to get some sort of merit scholarship money with a 3.4-3.5 gpa?
It would depend on what college you transfer to. A top 50 college, no.
I’m thinking either UMBC or UMD
Are you at a CC in MD? Then go meet with the Transfer Advisor. That person should know everything about transfer admission and scholarships at UMBC and UMCP. How much merit-money do you need anyway? Run the Net Price Calculators for those two places and see what the numbers look like. When Hapykid transferred to Towson from Montgomery College, the NPC predicted her aid package exactly.
Oh ok I didn’t think of that! Thanks for the feedback!
