Will colleges be upset if I send 2 additional essays with the personal statement? I felt that it would greatly help my app. Each essay is about 650 words? Will they frown upon it?

Depends on the college. Stanford, for example, frowns strongly upon extra materials (aka they thrown them out!). One may be okay. Two's really stretching it. It doesn't say very much about your ability to respect rules. If they want one or two, then give them one or two.

Keep in mind they have to read thousands and thousands of applications, and depending on how many essays they ask for, several times as many essays. Now think about whether your extra essay or two will make them happy or not. If you do end up sending extra, I would definitely not send two... one maximum. Unless the college encourages extra stuff.

yeh Ill just send one then. On cornell's site it says that they discourage supp stuff. So, Ill just send 1 additional essay about my passion

I would not even send any extra essays. If they wanted another essay that would have asked for one or given a space for an optional essay (like tufts or amherst). Also, I think that it is unfair for people who only sent the number of essays the school asked for.

If Cornell says they discourage supplemental stuff then DON'T SEND IT IN. It's, once again, not a great display of your ability to respect rules. They get 24,000 applicants a year. They have this principle for a reason!

One extra essay may mean less review time for the rest of your application.
