3.4 gpa good enough for finalist???

i'm a sophomore. by the end of sophomore year, i estimate my gpa to be a 3.42 which sucks. though i plan to have it up by junior year to a 3.6, i still want to be a national merit finalist. i did really well on the psat's when i practiced, 230, so i'm confident that i will be a semi-finalist. but i'm really worried that my gpa will keep me from being a finalist. will it???

i also got a 2200 on my sat I's with good ec's/

thanks everyone!

Nearly everyone who is a semi-finalist becomes a finalist, so I’d say you’re in good standing. The actual scholarship is another question, however.

Try to get your cumulative GPA up to a 3.5. Do your best. Avoid any C’s.

i’m only a sophomore so i’m going to try really hard next year to get a 4.0, increasing my cumulative gpa to a 3.6. does the NMS committee look at junior and senior grades?

thank you!
