3.5 2100 urm...recruitable?

Can a urm with a 3.5 gpa and a 2100 sat get recruited by ivy league? Im not great at basketball, well not good enough to be recruited to play at duke or kansas university but i am good. Im first gen to college and have great recs but is that enough? to get in?

No. Not at all. Maybe, if the schools are desperate.

In my honest opinion, that 3.5 GPA is going to make you look like one of those intelligent people who don’t work hard. Even though your standardized test is really good, colleges want people who are going to work hard. That is why people have been accepted to places like Columbia etc. with 27 ACT scores; however, they have 4.0 GPAs and are ranked number 1. I am just saying you have a chance but that 3.5 is going to make it look like you have been slacking.

I disagree. I think you might actually have a decent shot. You at least have a chance. Talk to the coach and see what they say. You might even be accepted as a non-recruit. So don’t freak out. Just apply.

Agree with dr. Best of luck!

If you’re a good enough bball player your academics will probably be OK … however the IVYies are DI schools … roughly speaking you need to be in the top 1% of HS senior bball players to play DI (players from 30,000 high schools supply the 350 DI bball teams).

They might let you walk on, but I wouldn’t hold your breath to be recruited.

It’s not like the IVY’s recruit THE BEST bball players, if that was the case than Columbia and Yale would’ve been in the NCAA tourney.

if you’re not an amazing basketball player then i doubt you’ll be recruited, though i don’t personally know much about that…on the other hand, if your gpa is competitive at your high school, then consider your score and your urm 1st-gen status could give you pretty good chances. i think your main weak point is that gpa, so try to work really hard the rest of this year (i’m assuming you’re a junior) and 1st semester senior year to give yourself better chances. good luck! :)

I thought ivy leagues didn’t recruit for sports, or maybe they don’t give scholarships. Either way, I’d still say no. Sorry. You’re test scores and GPA just aren’t good enough.
