Hello,
One of the many books we have saved over the years while the DS and DDS have applied to schools mentions that Kenyon recommends a min of a 3.5 high school average. Is this across teh board, or do they weight a private school transcript?

Also, how active is the fraternity scene?

Thanks

Although it is not a requirement, it is “recommended” that one has a 3.5 minimum GPA. This simply means that it is more unlikely that you will be accepted, but it does not totally disregard your application. Also, it does give more weight to specific schools, but not because it is a private high school as opposed to a public institution. It will take into account the caliber of the school as compared to the rest of the nation. If you go to a school that is a more difficult school than others they will take that into account.

With regards to the fraternity scene, about 25% of men enter the fraternities, but most fraternity parties are open to the campus so being in a fraternity is not a necessity.

nygiant, you are familiar with our son’s GPA from a PM on another matter. Kenyon encouraged his application. Of course, they may well decline him admission come decision time, but we were straightforward about GPA and SAT (he brought copies of his transcript & test scores to campus for the visit). He recognizes that if he were admitted, it would likely be because his sport would got him over the hurdle. Cheers!
