david06, have you attended Penn State, yet?

mcvik,

From what I saw based on applications from students at my high school, she should definitely be accepted to Penn State - University Park as long as the application is submitted by the end of October.

No - as I said, I just graduated, and I didn't do summer session.

Then give it a chance.

I'm not going into it with the attitude that I'm going to dislike it... It's a very good, highly ranked school. I'm expecting to go there and have good faculty, courses, extracurriculars, social atmosphere, etc. That's still no reason to give up on my top choice schools when there's a significant chance of being able to get in as a transfer applicant.

gellino:

She will definetely apply as early as possible.

david06: I have sent you a PM

Mcvik - We are from PA.My son is going to Penn State this fall and is quite happy since he likes big, bustling schools plus he is majoring in business and they have a good program. He is a top student (3.9/1500/lots of APs) with lots of good ECs but was rejected from his top two choices. He did get into the honors college at PSU (plus other scholarships) - which made PSU a more attractive option than "mid- range" schools he WAS accepted to like Lehigh, Wake Forest, and Richmond. Even though it's a bit of a reach , I think your daughter should still apply to the honors college at PSU (and Pitt where it is a bit less selective). The PSU campus is beautiful and I think it's a good choice for a student who can be comfortable in a big school environment.
David06 - Give Penn State a shot - it's a good school!

Penn State is cool.
