<p>FCYTravis99, at most journalism schools, a master's degree in journalism + years of relevant work experience is necessary to teach journalism courses. You have legitimate reasons for an advanced degree. The OP isn't looking to become a journalism professor.</p>
<p>So as a prospective English major at a school that does not offer a journalism program (UVA rising second year) but with a pretty legitimate internship under my belt already (Washington Post) look into grad school for journalism if I’m interested in the field? Is an undergraduate program of studies in journalism definitely required before entry into either the field or the graduate program, or will the collegiate and professional experience I’ve accrued suffice?</p>
<p>I have been doing a lot of research and honestly, I don’t think the M.S. program is as competitive as it is made out to be. But we’ll see. Maybe, I’ll have to eat my words… when I don’t get in… I don’t think you should worry about your GPA and I feel the same way about not doing a course if I don’t get into a good university.</p>
