3.5 unweighted GPA, 2100 SAT, and 31 ACT

Hi everyone I'm a junior and I was wondering where should i be applying. Oh yeah here are my stats, 3.5 unweighted GPA, 2100 SAT, and 31 ACT; I'm also fluent in 4 languages and am proficient at a few more. I'm a student chair for relay for life, president of Latin club, treasurer for MUN, Art Editor for a literary magazine, a varsity cheerleader, a coach for cheerleading, and feed the homeless once a month on sundays. Lastly, as much as I loathe to admit this matters, I'm a first generation caucasian american (girl) from ct.
I was wondering if someone could ballpark what colleges I should look at? And no sugar coating please!

You have good grades, good test scores and outstanding EC’s. I’d say look at schools like:
Boston College
Connecticut College
Cornell - maybe a bit of a reach, but your EC’s set you aside, so I’d say you have a chance
NYU
UVirginia
UMichigan
UChicago - reach
Wellesey College
Amherst College
Duke
Georgetown

I was following the list above before I got to Amherst and Duke.

I think you’re looking at U’s ranked below 20 and LACs ranked below 8.

yeah, i’d say that’s a decent list.^ (except Duke , Cornell, and UChicago are reaches)

Grades and SAT’s are too low for ivies, but you can definitely apply to some good schools…

Other schools to consider:

UTexas-Austin
UWashington-Seattle
University of Miami
University of Wisconsin
Grinnell
Oberlin
Wake Forest
UMaryland-College Park

Figure out what kind of schools you like… it’s not just a matter of prestige. Each school is unique. What part of the country? What size? Private or Public? What schools can you afford etc? If you want money you’ll need to look at schools where you are near the top of their pool. There are a LOT of things to consider. This is a good time to start your research. Good luck.

Have you talked to your parents about the cost limit? If not, do so.

Then go to each school’s net price calculator to get an idea of what kind of financial aid it offers. Note that most out of state public universities are not that generous with financial aid to out of state students. New York University is a private school that has a reputation of poor financial aid offers if you do not get one of the few large merit scholarships.

Be sure to have a safety which you are assured to be admitted to and are assured to being able to afford. This may be (depending on your cost limit) an in state public university, a school that gives big stats-based merit scholarships (e.g. Alabama, UAB), or community college followed by junior transfer to a four year university to complete your bachelor’s degree.

I have no cost limit. And overall, I’d like to remain in the east coast area, from Maine to South Carolina or BY Cali (I have family in these areas). As for the size, as long as its bigger than my high school (1,000 kids) I’ll be happy! Here’s the list I have now:
Reach:
Georgetown (top choice)
Middlebury
An ivy (just for the heck of it)
BC
Berkeley
Cornell

Match:
NYU (second choice)
UCLA
UPenn
UMichigan

Safety:
Uconn
UHawaii
UMass Amherst

And I’m going into the language field…

that sound reasonable?
and by the way THANK YOU for the help. I’ve basically narrowed down the schools I am applying to and just wanted to make sure I’m not over stepping any lines and going for “never going to happens”! :)

UPenn is not a match…

yeah i figured it was a reach but wasn’t sure… but thanks!

You said an ivy, yet you already have 2 on your list… (Cornell and UPenn)

UPenn is definitely not a match.

…Unless you meant Penn State?

EDIT: Awkward how you responded a second before I posted. lmao.

wow sorry, yes I did mean penn state. Its getting late here, must be the sleepiness. and cornell is meant to be the ivy i’ll apply to just for the heck of it.
Here it revised:

Reach:
Georgetown (top choice)
Middlebury
BC
Berkeley
Cornell
Penn state?

Match:
NYU (second choice)
UCLA
UMichigan

Safety:
Uconn
UHawaii
UMass Amherst

does anyone know any other good Language schools?

that reach group is subject to shortening…

If you meant Penn State, I think that’d be a match…

UPenn; however, is a reach…

Btw, any idea on which ones you’re going EA/ED?

I’m playing with that currently because Georgetown does not offer ED, so I’ll either apply EA to there, NYU, and maybe another reach. Or ED to NYU and regular to the rest.
On that subject what is ED II? I don’t understand it.

ED II is Early decision for the RD round… Same deadline as RD, except it’s binding…

Btw, heads up: NYU has horrible financial aid…

Berkeley and UCLA will be pretty far reaches with a 3.5 GPA.

Don’t apply ED unless the school is your clear first choice that you will definitely attend if accepted.

Yeah, so I’ve been told. Let’s just say, my parents are not all to happy about it, considering I am the 3rd kid their paying for. But they have NO say in where I go, especially when they paid the full $50,000 for both other siblings.
Does being a legacy help? I’m a legacy to Harvard (a few immediate family members)
And thanks on EDII! That helps a bit :)

its a 3.93 weighted by the way… I have not taken a single ‘normal class’ since 8th grade. I’m in all honors and AP this year and last. And have 3 fives on the exams under my belt right now. Does that change things, or no?

And my senior year schedule is, 6 AP, 1 honors.
