3.5 vision?

A few days ago my optometrist said my vision is 3.5. Last year it was 3.0. What does this mean?

i think that means -3.0 to -3.5...basically, it got worse....but then again, im no optometrist

Easton's right. That's your contact prescription, I'm not sure if it translates over to glasses because I don't wear them.

It Got Worse. It Always Will, Its Normal.

^ My vision has actually gotten better over time...

But to the op, a change from 3 to 3.5 (be it from +3 to +3.5 or -3 to -3.5) is not a good thing.

^Mine has gotten better over time as well. ^_^ I went from really bad to pretty much not needing contacts anymore (although I do still wear them, especially while driving).

Johnson, why isn't it a good thing? Mine changed from a -3 to a -3.75.

Because it means your vision is getting progressively worse instead of better.

^ Oh, I thought he meant it was too high of a jump or something. Lol.

It's not really "supposed" to get better or "supposed" to get worse. Vision will keep changing (or staying the same) until you're in your early twenties...it's usually okay, nothing to worry about. Unless it's changing so rapidly that you're going to be blind in a year, or something crazy like that, but if that were happening, your doctor would have told you. The best thing to do is to keep going to the optometrist (sp?) every year like you're supposed to.

romanigypsyeyes- hgfm was right on what I meant.

^^ Yeah I understand now. I was just really tired and out of it :] haha.
