Hi All, While the scholarship options appear endless, can you please direct me towards ones where I would have a reasonable shot to earn one. My background is:

GPA: 3.75 UW
Test: 30 ACT (31 Superscore ACT)
Rank: Top 20% (Public High School)
White/Middle Class/Girl
4 Year Varsity Athlete
Link Crew Leader
Key Club Member
Field Hockey, Captain
National Honor Society

Thank you in advance for your time and direction.

The best scholarships are awarded by the colleges. Look for the thread here by BobWallace about merit aid, and read there. Look for schools where your stats will give you merit aid.

I will say…if you can retake the ACT and get higher than 32, your chances for merit aid will increase a lot.

Have you taken the SAT? What were your scores on that? If you haven’t taken the SAT, you ,ight want to consider doing so. Some kids do better on that than the SAT…and some do better on the ACT.

Thumper is right. the best scholarships, (biggest and for all four years) are awarded by the colleges themselves.

Private scholarships are usually small, hard to get, and usually ONLY for freshman year…so no money for the other 3 years.

For your stats, Alabama would give you a 2/3 tuition scholarship (about $16k per year).

What is your major?

BTW…merit scholarships are usually based on single-sitting scores, not super scores.

My is undecided. However, I am entertaining English or Biology. I will take the ACT again in Sept 2013 and graduate in May 2014. Thanks all for your advice!
