Now watch this video and laugh:

Possibly maybe. Bioengineering here is way impacted (by far the biggest major on campus). The safe bet is a 3.8+ but you also have some EC’s that might help you out. The letter of recommendation is useless; they won’t even bother giving it to the dept. I’d say 60/40 (for admission). Ps. The location of your community college might actually help you out - it seems like they prefer locals…

Go Bwah!!! Ahahahah!!

what do you mean b seriously?!

hm. what if i took a few extra credits beige applying and bumped it to a 3.80, would that really make a difference?

I was just admitted into Bioengineering(Biotech) at UCSD with a 3.72gpa, lower than yours. Your chances are fabulous. Get the igetc done and maybe join a club or two and you’ll be fine such that you complete most of the required courses on assist.org [for the record, I was admitted missing a bio class and having not completed any computer programming classes at all.]

I’m glad that you are pre-pharm because people who try to go into the field for BioE just end up depressed. UCSD will be more competitive next year, and BioE is kind of their thing. But a 3.8 rejection at UCSD? Practically unheard of if you have igetc done.

cool, thanks for the feedback guys. appreciate it.

kevinhorton - i don’t have igetc nor tag… will that be a problem?

TAG doesn’t matter in your case, all it would do is guarantee admission into the school and not the major if its impacted, so you’d be admitted undeclared if not qualified for BioE. IGETC is always a good thing. Maybe if you are only missing a few IGETC classes. One of my classmates was the snotty elitist type and took only science/math courses, got a 4.0 and expected to transfer after 2 years with several sections of the IGETC untouched… ended up doing 3 years.

Also, from what I’ve heard there is a really important pre-req for your upper div stuff that is supposed to be taken sophomore year and is only offered in spring, meaning you’d go a year without being able to tackle your upper div stuff after transfer. You might want to look into that. I think it’s called BIOEN10 or something like that.
