3.81, unhooked, and asian?

as the title explains I got a 3.81 GPA, unweighted. and to make matters worse, that's including electives (2 each semester...)!! 6 B+'s, 2 B's. i have a somewhat-excuse, though, which is that i transferred and had adjustment problems.

other minor (well, I guess not-so-minor) things to consider: i have near perfect scores (2390 SAT, quadruple 800 SAT II's) and pretty good ECs (national/international recognition in one aspect, much local/state recognition in others, combined with 3 major leadership positions and a few minor ones), solid recs, for junior/senior grades i'm top 10% but not sure about cumulatively--but obviously, they don't make up for my grades.

i ravishingly scavenged CC boards for fellow unhooked (aka non-legacy/athlete asians) 3.8'ers here's all i found for yale:

3.75'er (a typo?), asian, yale scea acceptee

so pretty much, i'm screwed! any opinions much appreciated.

Hard one. You need to hammer the grades because Yale is transcripts first, and then the rest. Transcripts tell a lot

This is not a statement AT ALL as to your "chances" or anything like that, but I will say that almost every school that I visited was not a big fan of kids with stellar scores and a not so great GPA.

Firstly, congrats on your achievements. I would moderate what WhishyWashy said however. Indeed some tippy-top schools value GPA more than scores but regardless, you've achieved quite a bit and your collegiate success seems likely. That being said, schools of Yale's selectivity level are difficult for all. Examine the school carefully and if you can really see yourself there, then consider making the app.

Regardless, best of luck to you

I didn't mean that in a "they aren't good enough way" at ALL; your scores are unbelievable. I just meant that some schools (I think Dartmouth particularly emphasized this) sometimes perceive high scores and low GPA to be a sign of a lazy/not very motivated student. (I am NOT saying that this is the case with you at all!) Absolutely take what I say with a grain of salt.
