My only non A's were in math in middle school and 9th grade. I've got an A in AP calculus, and I might get the next schoolwide award for math. The problem is, they put my middle school math on my transcript and are counting it in my GPA. Should I appeal this? I'm looking to apply to really competitive schools (Ivys, Stanford, etc.). It would raise my unweighted GPA from 3.93 to 3.97. Should I bother, or will schools overlook this anyways? I know Stanford throws out any grades from before sophomore year, so to them I have a 4.0, but the Ivys worry me.

they aren't going to care about four tenths of a point, and how can you appeal that?

Well it's odd, but some kids in my same situation have it on their transcripts and some don't, so apparently it can be taken off. Plus don't most college recalculate GPA anyways?

yes they do, that's strange though that some have it and some don't

Yeah, I think it might depend on which middle school they went to.

It should not matter to colleges. The adcoms will see that the only B's were in middle school and ninth grade. Besides, it is an upward trend, and your GPA is excellent even with the mddle school grades.

I have middle school grades in math and foreign language on my transcript, but they're not figured into my GPA.

hehe and it's four hundreths, not tenths celebrian25....if it was tenths, I would appeal, but I don't think it will make a difference

lol good point. Thanks guys

Most schools recalculate GPA's anyway to combat the rampant grade inflation, even if they don't .04 doesn't mean anything. I don't think you should put your middle school grades on your transcript if you can help it, seems way to desparate. Good luck anyway.

I didn't want to put them on my transcript, they only have my middle school math grade on there, and it's actually dragging down my GPA. But yeah, 4/100's of a point......I just needed to put it into perspective.
