I'm currently a freshman in high school right now, taking no AP classes, except for regular/honors classes, I'm pretty smart especially at English class, and I'm OK but not on the expertise level, when it comes to memorise things. I have made the decision to take 3 AP classes next year which are-

-AP Psychology
-AP World History
-AP European History

I like studying about the brain, responses etc. which is psychology, but I don't like studying in depth too much, or too much of it. World History and Euro will be OK, and I can handle those. But don't get me wrong with AP Psyc, because I do love the brain and learning about it, but I just don't like the complex names and parts of some parts of the brains, but I can handle it.

Please give me your input on these 3 classes, and based on the info. I have given above, don't hesitate in telling me if these classes are suitable for me, and if I will be able to handle them, and complete the workload, with a decent grade.
* Please remember that these classes are the first AP classes that I will be taking, and I have not experienced an AP level class setting before.

Here's More Info, If needed for evaluation-

Ethnicity- Asian( Indian )
Current GPA- 4.0-4.3
Rank - 53 out of 596

Also- Can you let me know if I need or should take a laptop or an iPad to school for these classes?

Thank You- Very much for your input, and I really appreciate you guys taking your time to evaluate me.

You don’t need IPad or anything just pencil and paper. As a Junior, I took the AP world exam and it was a joke. I study 1 month before hand and got a 5 on the exam. The AP Psychology is also easier. Nearly 40% got either a 4 or 5 on the exam. These two classes are one of the easiest in the school. Right now, I got AP physic, AP chem, AP Lang, and AP Biology( the hardest subject in the AP courses). My senior years will be CALTECH calculus 2/3 combined with AP GOV.
As a Asian(Chinese), I lived in New York City where there is a bunch of competitive and desperate Asia ( lots of Indian, Chinese, Jews,) and in my grade level I have 1096 students. I am rank 28. So you should be fine.

Good luck next year… Oh Yeah, I suggest you buy a review book and read it constantly… The class has many finals exam and the material is yearlong, so esp with history, you need to refresh your memories on them. It can be forgotten easily.

All three of those courses should be doable for a high-school sophomore in your position. You should be fine. AP Psych is not an in-depth course; it’s a broad overview of psychology equivalent to a college-level introductory psychology course. It basically skims over a wide variety of topics in psychology. As such, you’re really only going to need a basic understanding of the brain–while you’ll need to know the major parts and their functions, you won’t really need to know too much about the complexities.

As a side-note, I’m not sure how your ethnicity relates to your ability to do well in AP classes.

Or save time and just study with it before each test. While cramming isn’t all that great of an idea, studying properly doesn’t require overkill. A week is typically plenty of time to study without cramming for a major exam.

If you like history, two of those APs should be easy. AP Psychology also is a very easy AP, from what I’ve heard. They’re very do-able in sophomore year. (I got a 5 on AP Euro in sophomore year and the exam seemed very easy to me, but a large part of that was probably because I liked the subject)

Well, you’re probably going to have to take history classes to complete your state’s graduation requirements. And history tends to be stuff that happened “like decades ago.” If your aversion to learning history is going to impact your academic performance, I’m not quite sure why you’ve chosen to take two AP history courses.

It depends on why the teacher is considered hard.

I would not recommend taking two AP history classes at the same time as a sophomore. The classes aren’t necessarily difficult, but the workload may really surprise you if you haven’t taken an AP class before. In my opinion, two AP classes your sophomore year is plenty.

AP PSych is supposed to be one of the easier AP classes.

My son took AP Euro and AP World simultaneously. It was for him. I did call the head of the History Dept at his HS as i was concerned with his signing up for both. He told me the classes cover a lot of the same material so it is fine to take them at the same time.
