3 back to back classes

Hi, I was just wondering if it will be really painful. I have CHIN 1109, then PSYCH 1101, and then SOC 1101. The first class is at 9AM and the last one ends at 12:05.

and it would be every monday, wednesday. and friday

I think people in general prefer back-to-back classes (at least I do). It makes planning the rest of your day so much easier.

I have 5 back to back classes on wednesdays…does anyone know how easy it is to eat in class?

Depends on the professor. I’ve never seen a professor stop a student from eating in class. Just be quiet about it and try to schedule your eating for larger classes, not smaller classes so it’s less noticeable.

So will i have to worry about having like major tests on the same day in all three classes or do teachers have certain days they give tests? the buildings also seem to be near each other so I don’t think distance will be a problem.

I was worried about the same thing, and someone here on CC said there aren’t any in-class tests. There might be some minor quizzes though, I guess?

My friend who took Chin 1109 last year said that you’ll have to write journals everyday, take a quiz every friday and then every 3-ish weeks or so, give a 10 min. presentation.

I would be careful about eating in Psych 1101. The Bailey Hall facilities people have been really adamant about students not eating in the building. Then again, the lecture is so large that you could probably discretely eat without anyone noticing.

Also, there’s a definite possibility of having more than one major test on the same day. In fact, it’s likely that you’ll at least have multiple tests in one week during prelim season, since most professors want to space out their prelims evenly.

Many courses have prelims during regular class time. Others, especially certain large lecture classes, have evening prelims. You can already see which classes are scheduled for evening prelims here:

Hey, our schedules are actually reallllly similar, except that I have astro instead of soc. Most people on CC seem to agree that 3 back-to-back lectures is normal, and that it’s best to get classes out of the way as quickly as possible. But I also wanted a break, so I gave myself a nice, long lunch/study break after the MWF lecture blocks lol.

I don’t think any of my classes are on that list so does that mean that they are all in class tests, or is it just quizzes? yeah wow, chinese seems pretty intimidating, i’m gonna have to get on that lol

OP, I think you have a great schedule. 3 classes back-to-back is perfectly fine. The best part is that the bulk of your classes end at noon, perfect timing for lunch.

3 back to back from 8 AM is more painful, I’m sure.

I’m in class from 10AM to 4:30PM on Thursdays.

Damn chemistry.

But I only have classes from 10-12 on Friday so it balances out. Haha.

I’m in for a 21 credit schedule, but I STILL managed to make myself a nice 1 hour lunch every day (and breakfast on MWF), haha

Eating: I have yet to be in a classroom where anyone cared or it was mentioned. Most people have such congested schedules that the only time they can eat is during a lecture/discussion and the faculty understands this.

Tests: If you have 3 prelims in a 24 hour period you can request to have them rescheduled I believe. Usually most classes wont have in class tests (maybe quizzes) but they have out of class prelims that take place at night or in the afternoon. You’ll wish that tests were in class.

Alritey thanks for your replies. Can’t wait to get there in 2 weeks for pre-orientation.
