I might be getting as many as three b's on my midyear report. I know I am definitely getting two. I got straight A's last year, but my courseload is definitely more difficult this year... how badly do you think this will show? Will it show that I am not working hard enough?

I know what you guys are going to say.. you shouldn't worry about three b's, you're freaking out too much, or that the admissions process is far more than GPA/grades.. I understand all this and I know the process is complex, I just want some opinions.. in other words, would you guys be really worried if you had three b's on your transcript? Should I be too worried?

The B's are all in ap classes.. ap calc, ap physics, ap english.

Also, I was wondering, does Hopkins recalculate GPA based on a 10 point or any other grading scale? I know some schools (my school) are on a 7 point or similar grading scale, and my b's would translate into a's on a standard ten point grading scale. So does Hopkins recalculate, so to speak, or is an A an A and a B a B?

I wouldn't worry. They understand senior year rigour, and pressure which is caused by the college application process. Three B's should not be something to lose sleep over.

The Hopkins adcom recalculates GPA on a 4.0 scale. No weight is placed on AP or honors classes, though they will look at the course load you've taken upon yourself.

I'm sure you're a qualified candidate, considering the 3 AP's. Just chill and wait, and most importantly, sleep.

Join the crowd. My son had Bs in AP Physics and AP Calc. 4 As in the non-science courses (2 of those AP). He made it clear on the app that he will be a creative writing major. Though they don't weight things, at our college visits we were told many times that admissions understands the difference between an A in a regular class and a B in an AP.

Did your son apply this year, or did he get in?

Also, final update: I'm getting two b's, in ap calc ab and ap physics c. But thanks for yoru responses guys.. I'm slowly starting to ease up on my anxiety
