3 classes a semester?

My brother told me that students there only take 3 classes a semester. Would a premed there have to stay there for another year? Do general education rules apply to premed there? Thanks.

As explained at an Admitted Students Day I attended in April, one could argue that students actually take six courses per semester. That’s because each student meets individually with the professor of each class taken, to pursue some aspect of the subject matter from an individual perspective. These one-to-one ‘conferences’ are held every other week – the First Year Studies class conferences, though, I believe are weekly. There are many pre-meds at SLC – check out the website, where you’ll also find an explanation of the educational philosophy – no GenEd reqs but classes have to be taken over a number of disciplines.
