3 colleges in your state that everyone knows

For Cali it's definitely:

Berkeley
Stanford
USC

From what I've read here UCLA is the most well-known outside California, but here everyone sees it as worse than Berkeley in academics and worse than USC in athletics.

EDIT: Actually replace Stanford with UCLA, since a surprising amount of Californians don't know Stanford is in CA, and have only vaguely heard of it.

This doesn’t really make any sense…

Your response doesn’t make sense.

You want to actually explain the point of the thread? You want to actually justify your answers in the context of the heretofore unstated purpose?

The purpose is stated in the title. I’m still confused as to what you want.

UH-Manoa

Leeward Community College

Hawaii Pacific University

“everyone knows” …?

“knows” as in “has heard of?” What else would it mean?

and this …

First you said it’s obvious, then you changed your answer. Not so obvious?

People in state? Out of state? International? All combined?

Rutgers
Princeton
The College of New Jersey (I suppose)

but I have state(s) so:
North Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke

^^^Few people are aware of Wake Forest, and even fewer have a clue where it’s located.

TN is pretty easy:
UT
Vandy
Memphis

University of Minnesota - Twin Cities
Minnesota State University
…

most of the LACs are known in the other parts of the country but no one in state cares about them

NYU
Colombia
Cornell?

Perhaps for academics, but most people are familiar with the ACC, as it is the top college Athletics conference and all. Tim Duncan, Chris Paul, and Josh Howard usually ring a bell too.

Penn
Penn State
Villanova/Pitt/Temple

Who?

CU Boulder

ummmm???

ASU
U of A
NAU

We really only have three… xD

I would say that Phoenix, as the largest university in the country, is more recognizable than NAU.

I noticed you didn’t make any suggestions for Michigan.

I’m confident that Wake Forest is considerably more well-known than whatever 3rd school (beyond Michigan, MSU) that you dredge up for Michigan.
