3 day suspension for participation in a food fight

A few days ago during lunch there was a very large food fight and I participated and threw something. I was just called down and I am receiving a 3 day out of school suspension. 17 other kids also received suspensions. Will this affect college admissions at all even if I include an explanation in my application?

No worries…last year some Ivy-bound senior got suspended for like a week and he didn’t get rescinded.

Haha, no, I’m sure you’re fine. This isn’t anything serious.

Okay thanks. I am also only in 10th grade, will this reduce any severity of it?

Ask your guidance counselor if your high school even tracks these things and reports them to the colleges on the common app where it ask about suspensions. Many schools don’t.

okay thanks, that’s relieving to hear

hahaha, that would make for an awesome story.

Any self respecting college shouldn’t care. You didn’t harm anyone right? That seems like an extremely harsh punishment for throwing a little food :/.

food…chair…whats the difference? and nope I don’t think anyone was hurt haha

Some college applications ask “Have you ever been suspended? If so, please explain.”

So, you may have to answer the question. Do so honestly, explain how you were an immature sophomore, etc. Be sure not to have any more suspensions or expulsions and you’ll be fine.

at our school the punishment for a food fight was cleaning the cafeteria everyday after school for a month and in-class lunch detention…wouldn’t go on record, though. Ask your administration or principal if you could do this instead of getting suspended…

I believe the question about suspension is on the Common App.

it’s reassuring that there’s an area where I can explain myself, thanks for info guys
