Is it detrimental to my application to list a 3 on an AP exam? Or is it better to not mention it at all? I took AP stats junior year and had an AWFUL, brand-new teacher who didn't prepare us at all. Will the admissions commitee look at my application and think, "Oooh, she took AP stats as a class and got a very high grade, but then did poorly on the AP exam?"

So you took the exam and your are going to keep it off of your score report how?

I did take the exam, so does that mean they are going to see it automatically? I don't think I requested for College Board to send my AP scores...I didn't know if a 3 was good enough to list.

I think when you send other scores the report will show every test you have taken.

All your AP scores do NOT list automatically. SAT scores do, but you can choose which AP's you want to show.
If i were you i wouldnt list a three. Our GC's tell everyone at my school that only 4's and 5's will help you (and they know what they're talking about, i promise). If you're worried about inconsistency with your grade, that would also suggest you shouldn't send it. but meh, it probably wont HURT you (maybe?) to send it, it just wont help.

you send AP scores after, i thought.

i had too many to list, but only 5s and 4s were on the app

Don't worry, I had two 3s and even a 2 and was accepted.
As long as you are strong with the rest of the application and the score isn't really "glaring"... you should be fine.

If it is a big problem, I'm sure you can probably put some kind of note in the "Additional comments" part of the application explaining what happened. (Although I really don't think this is necessary and might just bring more attention to it)

I thought listing AP scores was an honor code thing. They ask you to write down the APs you've taken and the score you got if you want to and you don't have to send your AP score report. They are leaving it up to you to be honest about it.

I probably wouldn't write down a 3 but I wrote down my 4s and 5

as long as youre not planning to major in that subject i dont think they really care at all.

I got a 2 on one, and didn't put it on the app. but i put all my others which were 5's and a 4, and i got in.

I listed a 3 on my application, and I got in.

I believe you can cancel an AP score even after you have it, so if you were to not list the three, then get in and send your AP report, it's possible that they'd never have to know about the three.
