3 or 4 APs Sophomore year?

Hi, I am a freshman and I am currently choosing my courses for next year.

I have already decided to take AP US Government and Politics, and AP Computer Science A. The rest of the classes I am taking are honors (not counting electives and health/gym). I’m not sure I should add any more APs to my schedule, and am debating between whether or not to take AP Environmental Science, AP Statistics, AP Biology, or AP Microeconomics. Do you think should I take any more APs, and if so, which of these do you suggest I should take?

Thanks.

I think that 3 would be a lot for a sophomore. However, it is hard to judge without knowing a lot more about you.

It all depends on you as a person and what you can handle, to be honest, you don’t want to overwhelm yourself, but if you are up for the challenge go for it. I’m just jealous because you have so many offered to you as a sophomore.

I play tennis pretty much everyday, so max amount of homework I can do per night without giving up tennis would be 3ish hours. I also want to be either a doctor or do something related to computers when I grow up. Last semester my GPA was 4.47 weighted, and 4.22 unweighted.

@goneaway Yeah, but I’m disappointed we can’t take AP World History or AP Euro sophomore year.

It is better than nothing though, my school has a horrible system of APs. I believe less than 10 are offered, and you don’t really start until junior year then there are other requirements which can prohibit you from taking those AP classes. So take advantage of what you have and do your best!

That stinks. Thanks, I’ll try!

From my experience of a daughter taking AP Euro, studying for 3 hours per night is barely enough time for AP Euro by itself (assuming that you aren’t taking any other classes at all).

Usually you would take Chemistry as a sophomore. Try to take Honors. I woudl not take a second lab science as it takes up too much time, so don’t take AP Bio or AP ES now… Also don’t take AP Stats, take Geometry or whatever the next is in the math sequence.

AP Micro might be a good choice as a sophomore but really AP US Gov and AP Comp Sci is more than enough. . Spend your efforts on your core classes. (english, math, science, foreign lang, history) and not "add on " APs.

What are your classes for each category:

English
Math
Social science: AP gov (/econ?)
Science
Foreign language
Graduation requirements:PE/health
Elective: AP CS

AP stats and APES are electives.
Have you taken both of biology and chemistry honors?
