I was reading The Princeton Review's information regarding UCSC and it said that the out-of-state acceptance rate was a 3%. I'm not sure if that's just because not a lot of people apply to UCSC from different states or what... I'm just slightly worried because I want to go here so badly! I'm class treasurer, co-captain of the scholar's bowl team, I take part in musical, I was the indoor track manager, I'm on the cross country and outdoor track and field teams, I'm in Model UN, and yearbook committee. I have a 3.8 UW GPA and I'm in the top 10% of my class. I'm also taking the hardest courses at my school so yeah (I'll be taking AP English Lit, AP Psych, Honors Physics, Anatomy, Pre-calculus, AP Micro & Macro, and AP Statistics next year)... I hope I'm qualified enough to go here.
The thing that worries me the most is my poor SAT score, I got a 1600; a 550 M, 540 CR, and a 510 W....

I think it’s a bit higher than that… but you should be okay. Work on improving your SAT score over the summer. Good luck!

Are you a full pay? Can your parents afford it if that’s what you are? Forget if you’re qualified or not, the financial side is what really matters if you’d be able to attend even if accepted.

It’s only my opinion, but no UC is worth the out of state cost. You can go to a private for what it costs to attend a UC.

i believe that number corresponds to a combination of admittance and acceptance(i could be wrong)

I don’t imagine UCSC attracts a lot of out of state applicants. It’s a fine school, but with out of state tuition making it as expensive as a private university and it will likely take 5-6 years to graduate it’s a legitimate choice for most families.
