3 Questions

1) What are the average statistics of out of state applicants? (GPA & SAT 1 & SAT 2)?

2) Rank the majors on how hard it is to get into: EECS, Eng Undeclared, Computational Engineering Science, Pre-Business (Haas)?

3) How hard is it to change majors at UCB (assuming you want to move within the college of engineering)?

The stats for Fall 2006 are in the following link:
http://students.berkeley.edu/admissions/freshmen.asp

For the Engineering Majors, there is some info in this:
http://students.berkeley.edu/admissions/fallapp.asp?id=56&navid=N
(Under selection...)

QUESTION 1:

Stats

SATS
Reading: 580-710
Math: 620-740
Writing: 590-710

GPA
UW: 3.83
W: 4.26

These statistics are overall and include both CA and non-CA residents. I know UCB accepts 20% OOS and 25% in state, but does that mean that OOS residents have higher stats? If so, by how much?

I'm within the ranges listed above, but I doubt I'll get in b/c I'm OOS.

QUESTION 2:

Difficulty of getting in:
1) EECS
2) Eng Undeclared
3) Comp Eng Sci
4) Pre-Business

Does that seem right?

For Question 2 the Answer is no.

Pre-Business is admitted with everyone else in the College of Letters & Science, so its difficulty level for admittance is the same as any of the L&S majors. EECS is essentially computer science engineering, which Cal doesn't have.

UCB does have EECS:

Because of student demand, selectivity varies among Colleges, and --in the College of Engineering-- among majors; for example, it is more difficult to gain admission to the Electrical Engineering and Computer Sciences major than to the Mechanical Engineering major.

Is getting into LSA easier/harder than getting into an engineering program (or certain engineering majors - if so, which ones?)?

^He was referring to the computer science eng you were talking about. There is no such thing.

^ It's not computer engineering science. It's computational engineering science, and it exists at UCB. It's a major in the Engineering Science dept. (http://www.coe.berkeley.edu/engsci/)
