3 SAT subject tests

planning on some combination of Math II, Physics, US History, or possibly Spanish
if i take SPanish do colleges want the listening portion as well or is non-listening fine?

That sounds good. As long as you have three different areas of study for Subject Tests, you should be fine. I would assume Math II looks better than Math I.
I took Math II, Chem, US Hist.

I do not know about Spanish w/o Listening and Spanish w/ listening. They probably prefer one over the other, but I would assume either test would be acceptable to take.

I took Math II, Physics, and French w/o listening. Given that the listening is only offered once a year, I don’t think it’s too big of an issue if you don’t take it (I hope not…I haven’t heard back yet, but at least Stanford didn’t care. =P). However, have you taken the AP? Given that the language APs involve listening, it wouldn’t matter whether you take the SAT w/ listening or not given that you’ve already demonstrated your oral proficiency.

Also, enjoy your interplanetary adventure. ;)

is Math II anything more than what was featured on the SAT Reasoning test

Yes! Math II is more advanced math it covers everything up to Calculus (Geo, Trig, Pre-Calc)
I suggest you practice some problems so you are familiar with the test before you take it. I believe it is 50 questions. If you get 7-10 questions wrong ( forgot how much exactly), you still have an 800 score. After that cutoff (whatever it is) your score drops 10 points for every other answer wrong.

I took math1 math2 and physics =/

But I’m an international applicant so learning too many subjects in a very short time is even hard for me :P

I took Lit, US History, and Biology-E. US History will be a breeze if you’re taking APUSH!

^ That’s assuming that you actually learn things in your APUSH class, which, unfortunately, was not the case at my school last year. :(

For languages, I think they do slightly prefer the “with listening” test over the “without listening,” but I don’t think it’s a huge deal, especially since, as Baelor pointed out, “with listening” is only offered once a year.

I took Chemistry, Literature, and Spanish (without listening).

US History, Lit, and Math 2 :)

I took IB History instead of US History and it was still the easiest thing I’ve ever encountered in my life. I slept the last thirty minutes. Truth.

how hard was spanish without listening

Interestingly to get out of the language requirement you need to take a test with a “written component”. [Language Requirement at Harvard University](http://www.fas.harvard.edu/~rll/undergraduate/language_requirement.html) Does the college board give listening only tests?

My son took US History (after APUSH super easy), Math 2 and Physics.

Mathmom, the language requirement has a “written component” that you can get out of by taking an SAT II language test with a “reading component.” Confusing huh!

Anyways, the collegeboard doesn’t give out listening only tests. They administer a combo listening/reading test in November, and then all other months are reading only (which satisfies the Harvard requirement).

hope that helps!

math 1, math 2 and literature…hope they consider all 3.
