3 Tips from a Stanford Parent

I stayed at an ethnic theme dorm (I'm white) at admit weekend and even though I had always thought they were a silly idea, I really loved it. Maybe half or two-thirds of the kids were latino/hispanic (whatever the proper term would be), and then there were a bunch of murals, food, dorm traditions, and spirit that were (sometimes very loosely) based on the culture. The kids who were actually living there who hadn't requested it didn't seem to mind--some of them held official positions in the dorm, had been involved in planning the admit weekend dorm activities, and were planning on requesting it for the following year. ANYWAY, the point is that being placed in an ethnic theme dorm is in no way the end of the world and could even end up being a lot of fun, so don't worry about it!
