Princeton is still reach, SATs a bit low. Cornell I'd say is slight-reach/match. MIT is a definite reach, and duke seems like the same as Cornell.

I agree except I think you are putting a little too much emphasis on SAT. Also, can you define exactly what you mean by reach? Like does that mean average chances (aka 28% ED princeton), or does that mean lower than the average applicant.

Just try to get your SATs into either 2300 or 1500 and I'd say your chances will improve more, reach is just on their % chances or lower of getting in. I'd say your chances for MIT might be better than for Princeton because of your awards

Even if you had a 2400 SAT and your great grades, you still might not get in at any of your first-choice schools. On the other hand, you have a pretty good chance of all of them. I'm not an admissions officer, but you look like a strong candidate at all of them. (As for MIT, if they don't give you a good, hard look, they aren't the school they claim to be. If you made me say yes or no, I'd say you're in at MIT.)

Ya damn afirmative action. Thanks WashDad. Ya I know its impossible to tell with college admissions. It was just frustrating after reading that I wouldnt get in with my SATs when the average SAT score at Princeton is a 1470. Cornell is like 1440, MIT is like 1480, Penn is 1440. So if anything is going to keep me out I dont think it would be the SATs, they just wouldnt get me in.

Well colleges each year try to raise their SAT standards, and also it is relative to location as well, any info on class size and how competitive HS is?

Thanks man. Also note that I am the highest ranked out of anyone in the county applying to Princeton ED. On the other hand, two have much higher SATs scores. 5 applied ED from my school, 1 athletic recruit. Of the two with much higher SAT scores, 1 has a 3.5 GPA and the other has no ECs or awards. I am the only one applying to Princeton Engineering. I think since I am applied ED to engineering it might help because many people who are interested in engineering apply early to MIT.

I didnt list all of my awards, there are about 6 more. County rank is given to us. Since we are IB they like to evaluate us in the context of the county.
