2012-2013 was my first year I have 1 W for Fall 2012 for Biology I also dropped Sociology 100 my Spring 2012 semester. I was trying to work full-time 45+ hours a week and realized it was way too much for me too handle so i dropped the class I was at risk of getting a B or a C in. I have 2 years a head of me in CC before i transfer. I am just a little concerned because I decided to take Soc 100 again over this summer, I thought it would be much easier to pass since some of the information was already in my brain, but IT IS HORRIBLE. I can not do summer school and work full time. I really want to drop the class but I am afraid another it will affect my chances when I want to transfer to UCB, UCLA, UCD, UCSB, UCI, or CSULB.. HELP PLEASEEEE!

UCB maybe but 90% sure no…everywhere else W’s do not matter, just explain your reasoning in the personal statement and that’s that.

They care about GPA, upward trends like if you started at a CC and got all C’s then picked up and got all A’s they really like that at the UC’s, first generation college student, low income/disadvantaged, EC’s, IGETC, and major prep from Assist.org.

Also consider the TAP for UCB and UCLA as well as the Transfer Admission Guarantee for all other UC’s, except San Diego this year is their last year doing it.

I have 8 W’s on my transcript and at the start of last fall had a 2.11 GPA now I have a 3.083 GPA and am on track to transfer to a UC, just need to get a couple A’s in the fall and I’ll do the TAP and TAG, they love it when your on an upward spiral and prove that you can pick back up when you fall down.

As long as you can explain why-and have a good reason why-it shouldn’t be a problem. I agree with the above poster, especially for UCB.

You don’t even have to explain them. They don’t care.
