3 years of a foreign language

<p>This question is directed at Harvard and all other ivies which pretty much have the same *recommendation.</p>

<p>How serious is this "recommendation"?</p>

<p>How much does it hurt your chances if say you only had two years of a foreign language?</p>

<p>And finally, how much would it improve your chances if you took a semester worth of a foreign language at your local college 2nd semester?</p>

<p>ps. a totally different question, now that it is the second semester of senior year, how much would it help taking up classes at the local college (say add a mechanics & calculus course)?</p>
