3 years undergrad bad?

So I was looking through the requiremments just to be considered at most medical schools. Most, if not all, said that they prefer students with 4 years of undergraduate course work, but will accept students with 3. Now in high school I got a lot of my social science, humanities etc. general ed. requirements done through AP classes. So I can get through my intended Biology program requirements in 3 years. Is this a bad idea? Should I stay in undergraduate for 4 years?

I'm in a similar situation with AP credits. I'm not going to give you advice but I just to let you know that you are going to see some HARDCORE supporters of 4 year programs in this thread.

From observing many friends go through this process, I've seen it turn out very poorly.

^ That's rather vague. Do you mean they completed their pre med in 3 years, went to med school, and did terribly? Or do you mean they tried to do their program in 3, but ended up doing 4? Either way what ended up being the problem for them?

They graduated in three years and could not get admitted to medical school despite excellent numbers and activities.
